The Hollow

Some of the more appealing aspects of our character that we have relied on too heavily actually have worked in our disfavor. When we decided to put down the drink we started to feel good about ourselves and rightly so but once the mocus state lifts we can’t let our feet become rooted and brandish our dry state. Most of the world is sober or when they do drink it is under control because they can take it or leave it even when they might say in jest that they need a drink.

We may have been nice people to be around even during times when we drank. A charming personality is not uncommon for us alcoholics but there is always a gap that is glaring because when we drank any believability our friends and loved ones may have relied on because of what we promised or said became hollow and only served to distance the world and ourselves.

And so this leads to a discussion about character defects and we will take that up in earnest next. Or maybe we will continue on with the steps.
