No one can make you feel a certain way but we are quick to blame others when we refuse to take responsibility for our own state of mind and being. Nothing happens unless we allow it to be. We make our own happiness and manufacture our sadness. It’s the easier softer way to stay apart from life rather than embracing it for all it’s worth both the perceived good and bad. We can’t lay the responsibility off on someone else because frankly they are not that powerful.
I am reminded of the AA idiom of Feelings Aren’t Facts. Not such an easy premise to embrace when we are the ones doing the feeling. Still we will always be learning constructive ways to deal with our feelings until our dying day. Some earthlings are adept at this I confess but I am still not. Yet I have come a long way from out of control impulse and obsessive behavior. Although some in my life still feel I am possessed.
Feelings aren’t facts just as facts should not govern how we feel. Facts are only information for us to observe and process with time. A fact that presents itself today might feel great only to leave us in the lurch later. I don’t trust my feelings but I do trust my intuition, which in my opinion is divine intervention.
